About

My story:

What's my story? OMG that's long! Yet I could tell all of it in one glance. I'd say: meet me.
Ok Ok. So: happy, curious little italian child,I used to look at my parents at the age of maybe 4 or 5 and know what I wanted for myself as a grown up. I wanted to be a positive, sincere soul. When people asked me"what do you want to do as a grown up?" I'd say "I just want to be a good person" and in my head that meant "I want to be whole".

Well, I am on my way to fulfill my vision.
I attended classical studies at college, than I studied communication and marketing, then I worked as a copywriter in some ADV agencies, and after that as creative director, and later as a freelancer creative consultant for profit and non profit organizations with many mission around the world. It's 30 yeas now since I started working. Wow the time flies! Then, around 20 years ago, I finally let myself make art seriously (I always play seriously) and I never stopped since.

In the meantime I have enjoyed writing poems, studied plant-based nutrition and cooking, I brought "The Starch Solution" book here in Italy and founded the Starch Solution Italia page on FB, I showed my sculpture-paintings in many exhibitions, I worked with jazz musicians on their albums (and houses), I wrote and hosted my own radio show, I designed furniture, painted and decorated houses, created a jewelry brand (and created all the pieces with lost-waxed silver and bronze mini sculptures, ebony, and Murano-glass beads made by me with the lamp, great fun!), I lately stated protests in the streets (long story), I started the first and only global ongoing art installation project about LOVE, based on intimate conversations and interactive sculptures. It is called "Baci Sospesi".

I have worked, I sailed, I sang, I read, I have hugged strangers, I have slept in a tent surrounded by hippos, I loved, I took a break, I traveled (not enough) without a camera, with an audio recorder and a notebook, I cooked a lot, I laughed with all my cells, I led laughter yoga sessions too! I am an enthusiast QiGong beginner.
Dots and spaces make my image flow.
I wrote a poem, years ago. It's called "Acquaviva." and it goes:

"Io sono la continua
evoluzione.
Mi trasformo in ogni istante
da me
in me
e non prevedo che vita."

What about you?

My mission:

"Art is relationship and viceversa" this is my motto. I believe there's no art without a deep connection with others. Relationships are the fuel that boosts my imagination. At the same time I believe that being able to be in healthy relationships (no matter the duration, they can be even a few seconds long), is key to a deep meaningful, artistic living. Being whole, open, lit, true to yourself, caring, listening, clean... being ALL THERE in the moment you are living, That's art indeed. no wonder my biggest and deepest art installation, called Bai Sospesi, is around LOVE!

I like when I am able to touch people, to inspire them and support them. And viceversa.

My core values:

presence honesty wholeness empathy trust

My greatest accomplishments:

I already wrote about some accomplishments, didn't I?
I missed some, the one I care the most is the honorary citizenship, for the city of Pioraco, received in August 2021.

My hobbies/activities:

listen learn eatwithfriends watchmovies create

My goals:

1) making more Baci Sospesi installations outside Italy
2) keep recording Baci Sospesi intimae conversations for the world to listen to
3) being healthy and in peace travelling the world and meeting beautiful people.

Read, listen to, and/or watch this:

My portfolio:

some images of when i put up the first sculpture part of the "Baci Sospesi" Project. This is placed in Passoscuro, north of Rome, Italy, by the beach. In the 18 holes of the biggest "bacio" I put some of the phrases from 18 intimate conversations I recorded for the project. Tose holes are now used everyday by people who leave love and hope messages for strangers. There is a sign, behind the sculpture, that tells people about the project and invite them to leave messages for strangers. As we are all connected, we can share love and hope with the world and know that someone will reciprocate. So... those who have abundance of love will donate, and those in need, will take.
You can see some messages and more images on Baci Sospesi page on Facebook.

this is one of the many messages that people leave inside the holes on my first BaciSospesi sculpture, by the beach in Passoscuro (north of Rome, Italy).
Baci sospesi in Italian means literally "suspended kisses" but also "kisses left pending for those who want to take them".
The first lines say: "baci sospesi, the ones we never gave to each other, and for who can spot them in curved red lines, which face the sea. ..." many more baci sospesi on Facebook and instagram.

Magic moments... in the evening we inaugurated the first Baci Sospesi piece of public art, it was the 29th of August 2020. That place has become a spot for lovers to meet and leave love messages to the world.

That is amazing! Mrs Ludovica Moriconi, a young woman who lives in Passoscuro (the place where I installed my first Baci Sospesi piece), decided to have the shape of my sculpture tattooed on her arm! When I saw this on Instagram, I could not believe it! I contacted her, she told me that she loves the sculpture so much that she wanted to have it forever on her skin! I am still amazed every time I look at this pict.

the second installation for the project Baci Sospesi was created specifically for the village of Pioraco, in north of Italy. Inaugurated the 11th of August 2021. This is one of the messages left by unknown, to be picked by unknown...
Baci Sospesi literally means "suspended kisses" but it also means "kisses left hanging for anyone ho wants it".
the message says, " A kiss, a smile, a hug, it makes the one who gives and the one who receives happy."

this is just a glimpse of what happened in the village of #Pioraco last August 2021... part of the installation was a net of "Baci Sospesi" literally "suspended kisses" floating over a river...

I will never forget this moment! After appointing me Honorary Citizen of Pioraco (in the Marche region, in Italy), the Mayor of the town, Matteo Cicconi, left the first message into one of the several pieces of the Baci Sospesi installation that I created for the town. What a great human experience it's been!

There is nothing more powerful than love stories. That's why in June 2020 I started my international art project called "Baci Sospesi" (that can be translated with both "suspended kisses" and "hanging kisses"). It's a project about the complex world of man-woman relatioships. My project combines audio recordings of intimate conversations I have had (and still have) with people from all over the world, and interactive installations set in public spaces.
Here in this youtube video you can LISTEN to the 23rd rintimate conversation I recorded for #BaciSospesi. It's about loss, re-birth, surprises, meteor showers, and loves that need no words.
...
All the "story donors" remain anonymous. No faces, no names. Just voice. Because no matter where we live, what we do, what face we have... we all share the same need: we want to see and be seen. Love unites us.
....
To be involved in the first international art project about love, to tell your story, to host me in your show, to sponsor an installation for your community... contact me at: info@sbrocca.com.
